This early Viking Sword is based on surviving 9th century swords with a particularly fine Danish example kept within the collection of the National Museum of Denmark. This sword has a blade of tempered EN45 high carbon steel which is mounted into a highly detailed hilt of solid cast brass. Atop the guard is a black felt tab which cushions the guard when sheathing and unsheathing the blade – it can be removed if desired.
\n
\nThe broad cutting blade has a long, weight reducing fuller that runs for most of its length. The grip neatly couches a clenched hand in a hammer grip and its spatulate pommel can also neatly fit against the lower hand in a handshake style grip.
\n
\nThe sword comes with a wood-core scabbard which is wrapped in stitched black leather and completed with a brass chape and locket.
